PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Thank you.

To all who have participated, sponsored, or volunteered in our first three Save Barnegat Bay 8k Runs and fitness walks. As we look forward to our fourth annual Save Barnegat Bay 8k race we should reflect back on what we have accomplished.

On June 22, 2006 we had the first running race in Lavallette in over twenty years. Combined with last year’s race we have had over 2000 race participants, raised over $70,000, and as a result have given away close to $30,000 to our respective charities. This success would not be possible without the many dedicated volunteers and some very generous sponsors. I would like to personally thank each and every one of you that has supported us in the past.       

  • Your donations to this race have gone to Save Barnegat Bay, an environmental group based in Lavallette to keep our bay clean. With your help we have been able to educate the public and hopefully regulate a new threat, that being the excess nitrogen and the effect it is having on the ecosystem of the bay.
  • Your donations have also supported the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation, a group that is desperately trying to cure a disease that compromises human cells, this can be fatal and it primarily affects children under the age of ten.  
  •  Your donations support all of the emergency services in Lavallette to ensure that the Police, Fire Squad and Emergency Response Teams have the latest and best equipment to make the lives of the people in the community safer.

 I know that our goals this year, to deliver a great race to you. As we look forward to this year’s race and the future races please come out and support us and please bring some of your friends!.

 So on behalf of the Board of Trustees, I am really proud to be inviting all of you to come to our fourth annual race this June 27th in Lavallette New Jersey.
